Originally from Huntington Beach, California, Dr. Lau moved to Boston to attend Brandeis University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and politics. She then headed to New York City to attend NYU College of Dentistry and completed her residency at Jacobi Hospital, a Level I Trauma Hospital in the Bronx. Ever since, Dr. Lau has been practicing in Manhattan and Queens, and she loves being a part of such a diverse community.
Dr. Lau always knew she wanted to one day start her own practice as she longed for the autonomy that owning her own practice would allow. She wanted to be able to make her own decisions that would ensure stellar service, quality dental work, and a positive patient experience. Dr. Lau is passionate about providing her community with top-notch dental care in a welcoming, modern environment.
Outside of the office, Dr. Lau enjoys exploring NYC's diverse dining scene, listening to music, hiking, and spending time with her husband and dog.
Dr. Amatul Salma earned her dental degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed her general practice residency at Jesse Brown Medical Center. Dr. Salma is a well-rounded provider who strives to provide quality care and an exceptional patient experience. She is passionate about providing care tailored to the patient’s unique oral health needs and goals. She is a skilled provider in all aspects of general dentistry. Dr. Salma welcomes all patients, adults and kids. In her free time, she enjoys fitness, biking, outdoors, traveling, and cooking!
Carlos was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia where he attended the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and received his dentistry degree. There, he practiced as a general dentist until he moved to New York City. After receiving his Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) degree from CUNY Hostos, Carlos has since been practicing in both Queens and Manhattan. In his free time, he loves concerts and trying the gastronomic variety of the city.

Karen has been in the dental field for more than 15 years. She was born and raised in Queens, NY. Karen attended NYU College of Dentistry where she obtained her degree in Dental Hygiene. Karen is passionate about building genuine relationships and trust with her patients. In her spare time she loves spending time with family, cycling, and exploring new places to eat.
Meet BORO Dental Arts’s team mascot, Riley! Riley is 10 years old and was rescued from the ASPCA five years ago. His easy-going temperament and fun-loving spirit make him a perfect fit for our amazing team and patients.

Our office was designed with you in mind to ensure that you will feel relaxed and comfortable during every visit. In our waiting area, feel free to help yourself to a refreshment from our fully stocked beverage station. After your appointment, freshen up with a warm towel. Our office is proud to feature the works of local Queens-based artists. Their art is displayed all throughout the space and highlights varying styles, themes and media. Be sure to inquire if interested!
Helen Quinn is a stylist, designer, and artist living in New York City. She has been an editor and prop stylist for television, magazines, and catalogs. Her experience with color, texture, and interiors has led her to design textiles as well as paint lines. She has taught Color Lab and has led workshops at Parsons/The New School for the Aftertaste series and for Michelle Obama's "Reach Higher" initiative at the White House. Silkscreening, drawing with gouache and more recently, ceramics are her media of choice.
Kaiser Kamal is a visual artist whose works are expressions of his surroundings. In his artwork, the meaning is not absolute but suggestive. His influences are first and foremost everything he sees, feels, experiences and imagines. Kaiser creates multiple layers of the imaginary and emotional world on his canvas. He invites the viewer to become a part of that world and to develop their thoughts. Each individual sees something a little different from each other. Kaiser Kamal is a Bangladeshi -American artist resides in New York. He has had several solo exhibitions and numerous group shows all over the world.
Writing artist Will Kaplan combines different mediums, techniques, and text to probe boundaries. This New Jersey native grew up exploring highway hemmed nature preserves; tensions between the organic and the human-made manifest in his work. After graduating Skidmore College in 2017, Kaplan has made a new home in Queens, a rich setting in which to explore these themes. He currently serves as a board member at the Manhattan Graphics Center, and works for the art-handling company, Maquette Fine Art Services.
At BORO Dental Arts, it is our goal to go beyond providing top-notch dental care. We want to make sure we are encouraging our community to thrive and flourish. As an avid supporter of the arts in her community, Dr. Lau is proud to be working with the local art district to feature local artists’ work in the office.
